Smart Voting System Project

 

Objective

  • To develop a smart voting system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using Rasperrybito efficiently manage the voting process.

Project Overview

A enormous amount of money is involved in conducting an election. But, nowadays it will be very difficult to conduct good and fair election in all the places. Some forces try to disrupt the elections using some technologies. So it is necessary to secure the voting system with latest technologies.The two level of authentication need to be implemented to improve the security mechanism in system. If anyone try to caste fake vote, he/she need to be identified priorly and steps need to be taken to have fair election.

Electronic voting system refer’s to voting using electronic mediums and smart voting system refers voting system using IoT. In recent times, we are facing many problems like travelling long distance, spending huge money to travel. From the government perspectives, they need to deploy huge man power, infrastructure and machines. Both point of view, its complex process. This decade utilized the advantages of new technology in many fields. This project concentrates on improving the voting system with new IoT and other latest features.

Proposed System

The proposed Smart Voting System IoT based smart voting system concentrates on automating the voting process with good accuracy and efficiency.Internet of things is made up of many devices like simple sensors, smart phones and wearable sensors and etc., For the purpose of developing good an IOT infrastructure, we need to configure the hardware with software and control the devices over the internet. In order to help this process, raspberry pi can be used. This raspberry pi platform is used for creating new environment internet of things infrastructure. The proposed system architecture is shown in following figure.

  • Before starting the process, it needs some settings. Server with client PC’s needs to be set carefully over the large area. This connection might be wireless. Then actual voting can taken place. Voting machine is connected to laptops.

Smart Voting System

Working Principle

  • The process is started with voter submit the unique identification number with fingerprint on the authorization unit. This detail is sent to the server.
  • Data will be verified. If the data found to be correct, then authorized user information will be displayed, else he/she will not be permitted to vote.
  • Once verification is done, then voter can go to the voting machine and he/she can register the vote. Voter will get the receipt for the voting.

Smart Voting System Advantages

  • It can be used for long distance voting.
  • It saves time, money, otherextra efforts to reach the voting place.
  • Less human effort is required.
  • Counting of votes could be done immediately after voting completed.
  • Easy installation and less effort is required.

Future Scope

  • Aadhar card can be used in future to get more details.in
  • Audio signal can be used in future to get the best results.

Vehicle Parking System IOT Project

 

Objective

To develop a vehicle parking system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using Raspberry efficiently parking the vehicles.

Project Overview

Nowadays, Internet of things is the latest and evolving hot technology. It can be used to connect surrounding things to a network system and communicating and sharing the things with each other. It reduces the human intervention and automating the process. Nearly more than 50% of world’s population lives in cities. In recent years, the usage of vehicle increases and growing in rapid rate. During the parking of the vehicle, people find difficulties. It takes time and increases fuel usage. It creates congestion and traffic. This happens due to the lack of good vehicle parking system.

Population of the world increasing rapidly. People from rural areas switching to cities for employment and other reasons. Number of vehicle usage is growing at enormous speed. So, it causes issues in parking in many ways. It leads to traffic, accident and so on. If you visit the public places such as hotels, multiplex, shopping malls, you will be frustrated with parking issues. One of the research study says that a driver takes nearly minimum of 5 minutes on an average to park the vehicle. So it is necessary to create a good parking facility in the cities to avoid frustrations, traffics and accidents.

Existing System

Existing Vehicle Parking System provides Bluetooth device and finds a slot in the parking place. The information about the parking area, only available within the Bluetooth range. So new system which covers large distance need to be developed to improve the parking facility.

Proposed System

The proposed Vehicle Parking System architecture is shown in following figure.

The proposed Vehicle Parking System IoT based vehicle parking system focuses on automating the process with good efficiency. This parking system provided solution to the parking issues and also reduces human work and manual work. This system can be implemented in cities, airports, large shops, multiplexes and institutions.

Working Principle

  • User needs to register the vehicle details through mobile app. This information will be stored in the server. It can be used to track the user, in case of any policy breaks. Once the entire registration is completed, user can check the free parking area and he/she can use those facilities provided by the smart vehicle parking system.
  • Here IR sensors are used detect slot to park the vehicle. RFID tag is used for vehicle identification. .

  • It reduces the waiting time to park the vehicles.
  • It maximize the venue availability to the vehicle users.
  • Less human effort is required.

Future Work

  • This system work can be further extended to advance booking ofparkingsplaces over a period of time.
  • The android mobile application can be further extended to other operating systems such as iOS, Windows ,etc.

Traffic Signal Monitoring & Controlling System

 

Objective

To create a traffic signal monitoring & controlling system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using an Arduino to avoid undesirable effects such as delays, and traffic jams.

Project Overview

City population reaches an inconceivable evolution in the contemporary era. It openly affects mobilization in higher manner. Survey reports says that, every year this world sees a  minimum of 2% increase in city population growth. In future, it will see much rapid increase in the population in cities. So it is necessary to develop an effective system to face traffic congestion challenges in cities.

Existing System

Traffic Congestion is one of the major concerns for any country. Due to this traffic issue, travel time will be increased. To avoid this problem, many existing system projects developed based on considering following:

  • The wireless technology based design was created by sensors and micro controllers. Here sensors used to detect the traffic level and time for the traffic signal.
  • A method was developed to make sure that maximum efficiency is achieved. Precedence number is given to differentgroup of transportation vehicles. Emergency vehicles such as ambulance and fire vehicles given primary priorities. Then ordinary vehicles will move on.
  • Precedence is set based on vehicle density on the road. If number of vehicles are high means it will be given more time.
  • Here RFID is used to monitor the objects with tracking. This can be used to track the lost vehicles.

Advantages

  • Reduce the traffic congestion by monitoring the traffic level.
  • Frustration of drivers can be avoided.

Disadvantages

  • Manual intervention is needed at many operations.
  • At the present era, technology moves with high speed. But existing system does not consider this technology advantage.

Proposed System

As the usage and requirements of vehicles increasing rapidly. Traffic congestion creates lots of trouble for common people in many different ways. So this proposed concentrates on developing smart traffic monitoring and controlling system using IoT. It can be used to overcome the problems faced by existing system. The proposed Traffic Signal Monitoring & Controlling System architecture is shown in following figure.

Working Principle

  • IR sensor is located at acertain distance from the traffic signals. It will detect the traffic density on the road and control the traffic signal.
  • All the data will be sent to the web server for further process like analyzingand reporting. Mobile application access allows easy traffic monitoring and visualization for decision making.

  • Monitors the traffic level and controls the traffic signal automatically.
  • Less human intervention is required.
  • Efficient use of latest technologies to get the high outcome for the system.

Objective

To develop a smart garbage monitoring system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using Arduinoto efficiently manage the garbage.

Project Overview

One of the important areas of concern in our environment is garbage management, which affects the human health. In the 21st century garbage collection is somewhat improved, compared to 20th century. Garbage is separately collected as reusable and non-reusable garbage’s. But the amount of technology improved nowadays is not much reflected in garbage management. So collecting, detecting and managing garbage’s using the latest technology is one of primary need for society. Less human effort and more automation should be the goal for any garbage monitoring system. This project concentrates on developing a smart garbage monitoring and controlling system using Internet of Things (IoT).

Existing System

Existing garbage monitoring system need more human effort to complete the required task. The garbage bin is divided into the reusable garbage bin and non-reusable garbage bin. Every time garbage is filled means, human manually check and monitor the level of the garbage in the garbage bin. After that the garbage is cleaned from the bin. The existing system architecture is shown in below figure.

Advantages

  • It considers the separation of reusable and non-reusable garbage’s.

Disadvantages

  • It does not utilize the latest technology advantages.
  • More human effort is needed.

 

Proposed System

The proposed system smart garbage monitoring and controlling system using IoT is one of the very innovative system, that is used keep the street and city clean. A mobile application is created to display the status of the garbage level to the garbage cleaner. This mobile application gives a graphical representation of the garbage baskets and displays the level of garbage’s in the basket. The user interface screen shows the status of the level of the garbage. The proposed system architecture is shown in following figure.

Working Principle

  • In the smart garbage management system, ultrasonic sensors used to detect the garbage level in the garbage baskets. Every time garbage level reached threshold, the notification with the alarm will go through the garbage cleaner. The threshold is fixed by the garbage cleaner.
  • All the data collected will be stored on the web server using wifi modem. Then required garbage related details are displayed in the mobile phone using android application.
  • Every time garbage level reaches near the specified threshold level, the garbage cleaner will get the notifications with alarm to take the future action.

  • Controls and monitors the garbage level through latest technology to make the street clean.
  • Mobile application visualization helps easy monitoring of garbages.
  • Less human effort and quick solution to the garbage problems.
  • Transparent system between people and government.

Smart Toll Booth Management System

 

Overview

Transportation plays a major role in the nation’s economy.  In the last decade, we have seen some digital and technology improvements in the transportation process. The current decade transport process is going to see major change and revamp in terms of technology. So it is necessary to include latest technology advancements in this field, to create an efficient and user friendly system. This system concentrates on managing the toll booth system in a smart way using Internet of Things(IoT).

Existing System

The present Smart Toll Booth Management System in India is based on more manual intervention and less automated work. The vehicle driver pays the amount at the toll booth to the toll booth employee. The employee receives the amount and enter the details in the system. From the data employee entered in the system, receipt is generated. Now driver receives the payment receipt & then vehicle pass the toll booth. Here except payment process and digital storage of data, every other work needs manual intervention.

Advantages

  • Existing Smart Toll Booth Management System follows a digitized payment system. So data analysis can be done.
  • Compared to previous manual entry of data, this process is efficient.

Disadvantages

  • The more manual work needed at any point in the process in the system.
  • Technology advancements in all types of applications during the last decade is very huge. But this is not considered for this toll booth management system. This drawback makes the system less efficient for this generation peoples.

Proposed System

The proposed Smart Toll Booth Management System, focuses on making the system entirely automatic. Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile application is used, in additional to existing system components. By introducing this, we can save time and space. Human resources can be utilized for other efficient tasks. Every vehicle owner will be provided with one unique tag number using RFID. This number will have all the vehicle related data, such as the type of vehicle, vehicle number, owner details, vehicle travel history. So it is easy to monitor and control the vehicle travel details.

  • The entire system is automated. Less human intervention.
  • Tracking of vehicle details is very easy with this new system.

Disadvantages

  • At first time investment will be high to setup the entire process. After that, only maintenance needed. No further investment required.

Objective

To create a smart street light monitoring system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using Raspberry-pi to make street lighting more efficient, safe and affordable.

Project Overview

Street light is the important part and cautious need for any institution, city, municipality during night times. The unfortunate thing is that, everybody able to utilize the outcome of the streetlight, but too much cost and maintenance makes the traditional street light system as not efficient. From traditional system, nowadays we are moving towards a smart street light system, where it is connected through the internet. This new system increases the efficiency, safety and low wastage of energy.

Existing System

Existing street light monitoring and controlling system focuses on reducing power consumption and fault detections without considering the traffic rate. It considers daily power usage, faulty things happening in the environment. The existing system architecture is shown in below figure.

Streetlight Monitoring System

Working Principle

  • In the street light environment, regular routine works will be happen. Additional to routine regular works, the sensor integrated with street light will detect the power level and faulty things.
  • All the activities that happening will be transferred to the web server through internet. This digital data is stored in the database for future analysis.
  • The normal range power level will be stored in the database. If incoming digital power level data is mismatched from the normal power level, then this data will be used to control the power level in the street light.
  • Similarly faulty activities also notified in the user interface for the further action by the responsible persons.

Advantages

  • Reduce the energy wastage by monitoring the power level.
  • Faulty activities avoided and rectified quickly.

Disadvantages

  • It does not consider the traffic level.
  • It does not consider the latest mobile application need and usage level by common people.

Proposed System

The proposed system smart street light monitoring and controlling system focus on reducing power consumption and fault detection’s with considering the traffic rate in that environment. All the reporting is connected to the mobile application. The proposed system architecture is shown in following figure.

Working Principle

  • In the smart street light environment, additional to regular routine works, 3 sensors fitted for the purpose of traffic detection, power level detection and faulty activity detector.
  • In additional to an existing system, traffic level detector is used to monitor the traffic level in the environment and based on that level it controls the energy level.
  • All the activities are converted to report format and this information is displayed in the mobile application as graphical format.

Advantages

  • Controls and monitors the light energy based on traffic level.
  • Graphical reporting in mobile application access, allows efficient monitoring and controlling.
