Telephone Directory System Project in Java

 

The main objective of this Telephone Directory System java project is to store the contact details of the desired persons in a database. It is a friendly easy to use interface developed in Java with MySql as the back end to store the details. This application stores all the details like name, telephone number, address, email id and website in a database. This system was developed to reduce the errors that creep up in manual systems. It was very difficult to store all the details manually there such a system was developed. This software also allows to edit, update and search various contact details. It is secure, easy to use and reliable software system. It also provides a good level of security as there is an admin who can only edit and update details. Existing system

Earlier there was a manual system which requires a lot of paperwork and required a lot of time to maintain the contact records in a database. The records stored were also not secured as anyone can view it. So there was a risk of storing records. Besides this, if any changes were to be made then all things need to be updated which was very difficult to do. There was also a risk for loss of information in this system. This also lead to errors so there was a need for the new system to be developed.

Proposed system

The Telephone Directory System  allows storing contact details in a database which is handled by the administrator. So this provides a secure system which could easily search, edit or update any records. It also allows to easily update the contact details without modifying much. The records can be modified only by the administrator. In this, you can easily log in and view the contact details. This reduces dependence on the manual system which earlier required a lot of paperwork. This also saves time and the cost of paper. All the records are safely stored in a database using MySql.   • Admin module: This is the main module where the administrator logins into the database. All the admin details are stored with user id and password.

This is a simple text editor application developed in java or Notepad Application in Java Project with Source Code. It is created in java for front-end interface. It is used to simply write anything for our day to day use. Its main objective is to reduce the manual work and mistakes that occur in it. This application completely provides a user-friendly interface. Its main objective is to easily provide any support where users can write their notes and save it for further use. It has the variety of features like-:

File open-This feature allows users to open files saved at the desired location or open a new blank file.

File save-This allows users to save a file with the desired name at any particular location.

Cut copy paste-This is another useful feature provided by this application which allows users to cut, copy and paste any desired edited text.

Undo-This allows users to undo any edited text.

Find text-This feature allows user s to go to any particular text or word in the file immediately. This is a search feature of the editor. Using Find next user can search any word repeated in a document.

Existing system

Earlier there was a manual work as all things have to be written down on a piece of paper which leads to errors and mistakes. It was difficult to edit the document or copy paste anything which caused a huge amount of time consumption. So there was a need for the system which could rectify these mistakes and provide a simple computerized interface that would solve all the problems.

Proposed system

Notepad Application using Java

This simple application allows users to write anything and save it for future use. It can be saved using Save As feature which saves the files at desired location. This is notepad program in java using swing and uses simple core java concepts to come up with basic notepad functionality. This reduced the dependence on manual work which leads to mistakes. The proposed system also saves time money and the need for paper. It also provides other features like font and word wrap. Through font one can change the font style of the edited text. Another feature word wrap allows users to wrap the text in an area which is visible to the user. This was the proposed system developed to provide the friendly user interface to the user. Objective

To create a traffic signal monitoring & controlling system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using an Arduino to avoid undesirable effects such as delays, and traffic jams.

Project Overview

City population reaches an inconceivable evolution in the contemporary era. It openly affects mobilization in higher manner. Survey reports says that, every year this world sees a  minimum of 2% increase in city population growth. In future, it will see much rapid increase in the population in cities. So it is necessary to develop an effective system to face traffic congestion challenges in cities.

Existing System

Traffic Congestion is one of the major concerns for any country. Due to this traffic issue, travel time will be increased. To avoid this problem, many existing system projects developed based on considering following:

  • The wireless technology based design was created by sensors and micro controllers. Here sensors used to detect the traffic level and time for the traffic signal.
  • A method was developed to make sure that maximum efficiency is achieved. Precedence number is given to differentgroup of transportation vehicles. Emergency vehicles such as ambulance and fire vehicles given primary priorities. Then ordinary vehicles will move on.
  • Precedence is set based on vehicle density on the road. If number of vehicles are high means it will be given more time.
  • Here RFID is used to monitor the objects with tracking. This can be used to track the lost vehicles.

Advantages

  • Reduce the traffic congestion by monitoring the traffic level.
  • Frustration of drivers can be avoided.

Disadvantages

  • Manual intervention is needed at many operations.
  • At the present era, technology moves with high speed. But existing system does not consider this technology advantage.

Proposed System

As the usage and requirements of vehicles increasing rapidly. Traffic congestion creates lots of trouble for common people in many different ways. So this proposed concentrates on developing smart traffic monitoring and controlling system using IoT. It can be used to overcome the problems faced by existing system. The proposed Traffic Signal Monitoring & Controlling System architecture is shown in following figure.

Working Principle

  • IR sensor is located at acertain distance from the traffic signals. It will detect the traffic density on the road and control the traffic signal.
  • All the data will be sent to the web server for further process like analyzingand reporting. Mobile application access allows easy traffic monitoring and visualization for decision making.

Objective

To develop a smart garbage monitoring system based on Internet of Things (IoT) using Arduinoto efficiently manage the garbage.

Project Overview

One of the important areas of concern in our environment is garbage management, which affects the human health. In the 21st century garbage collection is somewhat improved, compared to 20th century. Garbage is separately collected as reusable and non-reusable garbage’s. But the amount of technology improved nowadays is not much reflected in garbage management. So collecting, detecting and managing garbage’s using the latest technology is one of primary need for society. Less human effort and more automation should be the goal for any garbage monitoring system. This project concentrates on developing a smart garbage monitoring and controlling system using Internet of Things (IoT).

Existing System

Existing garbage monitoring system need more human effort to complete the required task. The garbage bin is divided into the reusable garbage bin and non-reusable garbage bin. Every time garbage is filled means, human manually check and monitor the level of the garbage in the garbage bin. After that the garbage is cleaned from the bin. The existing system architecture is shown in below figure.

  • It considers the separation of reusable and non-reusable garbage’s.

Disadvantages

  • It does not utilize the latest technology advantages.
  • More human effort is needed.

 

Proposed System

The proposed system smart garbage monitoring and controlling system using IoT is one of the very innovative system, that is used keep the street and city clean. A mobile application is created to display the status of the garbage level to the garbage cleaner. This mobile application gives a graphical representation of the garbage baskets and displays the level of garbage’s in the basket. The user interface screen shows the status of the level of the garbage. The proposed system architecture is shown in following figure.

Working Principle

  • In the smart garbage management system, ultrasonic sensors used to detect the garbage level in the garbage baskets. Every time garbage level reached threshold, the notification with the alarm will go through the garbage cleaner. The threshold is fixed by the garbage cleaner.
  • All the data collected will be stored on the web server using wifi modem. Then required garbage related details are displayed in the mobile phone using android application.
  • Every time garbage level reaches near the specified threshold level, the garbage cleaner will get the notifications with alarm to take the future action.

  • Controls and monitors the garbage level through latest technology to make the street clean.
  • Mobile application visualization helps easy monitoring of garbages.

To ranking the given wiki pages using Hadoop.

Project Overview

One of the biggest changes in this decade is the availability of efficient and accurate information on the web. Google is the largest search engine in this world owned by Google, Inc. The heart of the search engine is PageRank, the algorithm for ranking the web pages developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University. Page Rank algorithm does not rank the whole website, but it’s determined for each page individually.

The page ranking is not a completely new concept in the internet search. But it’s becoming more important nowadays, to improve the web page ranking position in the search engine. Wikipedia has more than 3 million articles as of now and still its increasing everyday. Every article has links to many other articles. This is the significant factor in page ranking. Each article has incoming and outgoing links. So analyzing which page is the most important page than the other pages is the key. Page ranking does this and rank the pages based on its importance.

Proposed System

The proposed Wiki Page Ranking With Hadoop project system focuses on creating best page ranking algorithm for Wikipedia articles using Hadoop. The proposed system architecture is shown in the figure.

All the document data in the database are indexed. The web search engine searches the keyword in the indexing of the database.Then to search the information in the database, the web crawler is used. After finding the pages, the search engine shows the top web pages that are related to the query.

MapReduce consists of several iterative set of functions to perform the set of search results. Map() function gathers the query results from the search and reduce() function performs the add operation. The wiki page ranking project using Hadoop involves 3 important Hadoop steps.

  • Parsing
  • Calculating
  • Ordering

Parsing

In the parsing step, wiki xml is parsed into articles in Hadoop Job. During the mapping phase, get the name of the article and outgoing link connections are mapped. In the reduce phase, get the links to other pages.Then store the page, early rank and outgoing links.

Reduce(): Link to other pages

Store: Page, Rank, Outgoing link

Calculating

In the calculating step, the Hadoop job will calculate the new rank for the web pages.In the mapping phase, each outgoing link to the page with its rank and total outgoing links are mapped using map function.In the reduce phase, calculate the new page rank for the pages.Then store the page, new rank and outgoing links.Repeat these processes iterative to get the best results.

Store: Page, Rank, Outgoing link

Ordering

Here the job function will map the identified page. Then store the rank and page. Now we can see top n pages in the web search.

Overview

Transportation plays a major role in the nation’s economy.  In the last decade, we have seen some digital and technology improvements in the transportation process. The current decade transport process is going to see major change and revamp in terms of technology. So it is necessary to include latest technology advancements in this field, to create an efficient and user friendly system. This system concentrates on managing the toll booth system in a smart way using Internet of Things(IoT).

Existing System

The present Smart Toll Booth Management System in India is based on more manual intervention and less automated work. The vehicle driver pays the amount at the toll booth to the toll booth employee. The employee receives the amount and enter the details in the system. From the data employee entered in the system, receipt is generated. Now driver receives the payment receipt & then vehicle pass the toll booth. Here except payment process and digital storage of data, every other work needs manual intervention.

Advantages

  • Existing Smart Toll Booth Management System follows a digitized payment system. So data analysis can be done.
  • Compared to previous manual entry of data, this process is efficient.

Disadvantages

  • The more manual work needed at any point in the process in the system.
  • Technology advancements in all types of applications during the last decade is very huge. But this is not considered for this toll booth management system. This drawback makes the system less efficient for this generation peoples.

Proposed System

The proposed Smart Toll Booth Management System, focuses on making the system entirely automatic. Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile application is used, in additional to existing system components. By introducing this, we can save time and space. Human resources can be utilized for other efficient tasks. Every vehicle owner will be provided with one unique tag number using RFID. This number will have all the vehicle related data, such as the type of vehicle, vehicle number, owner details, vehicle travel history. So it is easy to monitor and control the vehicle travel details.
