Project Objective

            Passing out of school is a big time for most students because for most it is the first time they will have to make a life-changing choice, their undergraduate degree. This Online Career Guidance System aims to be a helpful and useful starting point for this confusing phase. There is a wealth of tools and data available for students who are interested in any field but most students do not have the time to research as well as required. This system will bring all these tools and data in one place for students.

            The Online Career Guidance System begins with choosing a career. Students will be able to see various career choices and the pros and cons of the same. They will be able to view company profiles and job experiences by people in the field. They will be able to view data from sites like Glassdoor and LinkedIn about professionals in each career. Different government sites that provide job statistics will also be linked with each career. All this information will help future college students to make a well – informed choice.

            After choosing a career, the next hurdle is choosing a college. The system will leverage students who use the system to reach college and will publish personal experiences and reviews from them. Articles from counsellors and college officials about admission to colleges will be available. The system will also search the internet for relevant article and after approval from the admin, will make links available for students.

            There are a variety of tests available to help figure out one’s aptitude. This system will provide access to such tests and will collect the results and maintain them on the user profile for later review. Advertisements for local counsellors will also be provided along with user reviews about them.

            As students browse through different college websites, they can store the information they find important on the system and create a database for later review. They can also see college reviews sorted by college.

Existing System

            There is no unified Online Career Guidance System for career guidance. Students generally have to go through hundreds of colleges sites to choose their alma mater. In the absence of adult guidance, they often find it difficult to find relevant information about the career they want. Generally students make poorly researched decisions which they then have to struggle with.

Proposed System

            The proposed Online Career Guidance System will make it easy for students to access the information they need. It will guide students through this process and provide access to verified sites that can help them. The system will also allow students to collect all the information they require and store it in a manner that makes it easy to access. Students will also have access to useful student testimonies and articles by counsellors.

Modules

Admin: The admin will create user accounts and will ensure that the system is updated with new articles and relevant links. The onus of keeping the site up – to – date is on the admin.

Student: The student will be able to access all the features of the system and create a personal database of the colleges. They can take personality tests via the system and store the results here.

Mentor: Any mentor able to provide useful information such as counsellors, college students, psychologists, etc will be able to access this module to create testimonials and articles.

Link – checker: This module will ensure that each link on the site points to the correct site. If any discrepancy is noticed it will notify the admin about the outdated link.

Lodge Management System

 

Project Objective

            A lodge is place which provides temporary accommodation at a reasonable cost and without the luxurious service popular in hotels. This Lodge Management System will manage all the records and most functions of the lodge at a reduced cost.

            The Lodge Management System begins its work from the booking of the room. Users can use the system from any location to book rooms and schedule their arrival. The Lodge Management System will inform the lodge, reserve the room and schedule cleaning. The lodge can upload details about the different types of rooms and pictures of each room. Users can browse these pictures along with comments left by other users. After room booking is done, the user can make the payment via any of the various payment gateways available. The user can also receive all bills and information online. This will help in the case of guests travelling for corporate needs as the system will provided a verified electronic receipt.

            Lodges don’t generally over too many personalized services but this system will help schedule the few services the lodge has effectively. Cleaning of the room will be scheduled one hour before the room is supposed to be occupied and within one hour after the room is vacated. The Lodge Management System will assign room availability taking into account the room cleaning schedule as well.

            Any special requirements by guests such as extra beds or extra towels can be placed via the system itself during booking and the system will automatically notify the management of the same just before the room is scheduled to be prepared for the guest.

Existing System

            The existing Lodge Management System depends on guests calling lodges or guests walking in off the street. Such a system makes it difficult for the lodge to predict room usage and may leave a lot of guests unhappy. This system utilizes multiple records which has to be scrutinized to understand any single guest’s needs. The billing process is also complex due to such records.

Proposed System

            The proposed Lodge Management System will computerize all the records and make the process very fast. Lodge management and guests will be able to easily access all information regarding their stay. Companies funding employee stays can be sure that these computerized records have not been tampered with. Such a system will make the lodge more responsive to guest needs and make the whole process cost effective.

Admin: The admin will be able to maintain the system and update any outdated information.

Lodge: The lodge management can use this module to access all the information about the lodge and update details about rooms. They can download regular reports about the business.

Guest: This module will allow guests to make bookings for rooms and access all the available services of the lodge. This can also be corporate account and can be used to book multiple rooms at once.

Project Objective

            The aim of this Human Resource Management System project is to build a system that will help a company manage its human resources. A large company will find it extremely hard to keep track of all its employees and to supervise their requirement as well. This system will automate a lot of these processes and the presence of digitized records will make access easier.

            The Human Resource Management System will have a project module. All records of employees will be maintained on the system along with their skills and abilities. When a new project is assigned to a team the project module create a new file. The details of the team members and estimated project completion time will be noted. The project supervisor will be required to update evaluations of team members on the system. These evaluations will be used by the system to make recommendations for promotions and raises. The final decision on promotions and raises will be made by an upper level manager.

            A recruitment module can be used during the hiring process. This module will have access to information about future projects and progress on currents projects, based on this information it will predict requirement of talent. It will also be able to present a breakdown of skills required and employee personalities that are successful in the company environment. All this information will help recruiters select ideal candidates for open positions.

            An employee module will be available to all employees to view their payroll and sanctioned leaves. All employees can easily verify the information and raise queries with the Human Resource Management System  at any time using this system. The department can also make available training material that can be used by the employees for self – improvement and their progress on the same can be tracked.

            Higher level management will be able to access employee records and job statistics using this system. Employee files can be updated and all information about the different projects can be accessed in an instant. This system will make it very easy for management to handle large numbers of employees at once.

Existing System

            The existing Human Resource Management System depends on the maintenance of multiple employee files and large job records. Large human resources departments are maintained to go through all the information and make recruitment and payroll information. Every month a lot of time is spent confirming leave information and preparing payrolls. The whole system is inefficient and archaic in this modern era.

Proposed System

            The proposed Human Resource Management System makes use of the best of modern computing technology. It will help in maintaining a compact human resources department which is ideal because this department does not directly provide monetary gain to the company. The system will help automate a lot of the processes and make management of talent much easier. It will also be smart enough to understand current bottlenecks and predict future personnel requirements.

Human Resource Management System Modules

Admin: The admin module can be accessed by upper level management. They can create new user IDs and access human resources reports. Any changes in the database and creation of new projects will be done by this module.

Project: The project module can be accessed by the project supervisors. They will be able to evaluate team members and provide information about project progress. The completion time and team profile of each project will be assessed by the system to make future predictions.

Recruitment: The recruitment module will provide information such as talent requirement, skills required and ideal employee personality. This information will be useful when making recruitment decisions. It will automatically notify the HR department when it detects a sharp requirement of talent.

Employee: The employee module can be accessed by each employee to view their payroll and sanctioned or unsanctioned leaves. This makes the process more transparent and avoids entry errors. Employees can raise complaints using this module as well.

Cricket Score Board Project

 

Project Objective

            This Cricket Score Board project aims to make a cricket score board that will update the scores of a match along with commentary as it happens. Cricket being a special part of the lives of many people, there will be many takers for such a system and the ability to follow the match without seeing the video will make it interesting for many. The system can stream video feeds of cricket matches as well as official text commentary of the match. A user who is unable to watch the match, for e.g. for someone who is stuck at office and working on the computer, can easily check the commentary on a regular basis to get updates on what is happening. The Cricket Score Board system will keep posting updated scores and the team line-up during the match.

            The admin will store upcoming match details and ensure that the team information posted is accurate this will help the admin easily load information at the time of the match. Users can post comments during the match that will be visible to all during the match. On the system the commentary will take the centre of the screen, while the user comments will appear along the side and can be viewed if clicked. Users can choose to block comments from another user at any time, if they are abusive or irrelevant. The admin will go through the comments after the match and block any user not following the rules of the system.

            A special feature of the Cricket Score Board system is user generated commentary. Users can create friend groups and can designate a few people who are actually watching the match post commentary. This is a hilarious pastime and users will love hearing about the match from their friends’ perspective. Such commentators can also share real time audio files of the commentary, which can be accessed in lieu of the official commentary when friends stream the match through the system. Friend groups can choose to make their commentary public which will allow others to listen in and enjoy as well.The system will also have a share function which will allow users to share video, audio or commentary from the system via any social media site.

Existing System

            The existing Cricket Score Board system of watching cricket is generally on the television. Most matches are not scheduled on holidays and this will allow people access to the match regardless of their location. Some sites do exist that display text commentary but they are very impersonal.

Proposed System

            The proposed Cricket Score Board system will allow people to stream the video of the match anywhere and read text based commentary as well, while making cricket viewing a social experience by allowing friends to share text and audio commentary. The commentary will be available post the match as well for review.

Modules

Admin: The admin will update details of upcoming cricket matches, create and block user accounts. Censoring of comments can be done during or after the match by the admin.

User: This module will allow access to all the consumption features of the system, such as streaming video, listening to official or unofficial commentary, posting comments, viewing scores and cricket statistics, and creating friend groups.

Commentator: This module can be used by any user to create commentary either for their friend groups or for public use. The module will adjust any lag and time itself accurately depending on the video stream. Viewers of the commentary may experience a lag which will depend on internet speed for the user and for the commentator.

Cargo Management Portal

 

Project Objective

            Today the world is a truly global place, where we use petrol from Saudi Arabia, fruits from Philippines, cars from South Korea, mobile phones from China, clothes from Bangladesh, tools from Germany and more. In the midst of all this globalization, the management of all this cargo plays a key role in ensuring that the right product reaches the right customer. Shipping is a multi – billion dollar enterprise which is kept in check by government systems to manage foreign trade deficits and to prevent the entry of illegal contraband. This Cargo Management Portal aims to build a portal that will make the process simple for the consignor, the consignee and all the government officials in between.

The Cargo Management Portal can be used by different shippers, importers, exporters, suppliers, etc. The process begins with a client placing an order. The stocks on the client end can be tracked by the shipper and automatic orders can be placed by the system when stocks drop below a particular value. When a new consignment is created it is logged in the system and all the specific details such as value of goods, dimensions, quantity, category of goods, etc will be entered as well. Funds can be made available in an escrow account to make the payments of taxes, shipping costs, etc. When the order is dispatched the details about the vessel will be made available and the system will automatically update tracking information. Whenever the ship reaches a customs check the system will notify the officials of the goods on board and a tax receipt can be generated, following which the system will automatically disburse funds via online banking for the tax. The Cargo Management Portal system will keep track of all the declarations, tax receipts, movement papers and accounting information as the journey progresses.

When the shipment is nearing its destination, the system will notify the consignee to arrange transportation. The tax payments and port release formalities can be handled when the ship is still off shore so as to reduce the time period spent by the shipment at the port. Depending on the nature of the shipment officials may or may not require to personally inspect it. The system works on the assumption that the customs officials trust the integrity of the consignor as long as there is no cause for suspicion, surprise raids may be conducted to scare people from smuggling shipments in.

Existing System

            The existing Cargo Management Portal system requires a lot of paperwork. In most cases shipping companies maintain offices in many countries so as to be able to conduct the shipping formalities locally. Consignors and consignees also require a local representative to ensure that all the documents are in order before and after shipping. The whole process is redundant in this age of computers and wastes a lot of time.

Proposed System

            The proposed Cargo Management Portal system will make the process faster. It will make it easy for all the stakeholders involved to share information and will make the system more accountable. Shipment orders can be placed smoothly and terms negotiated swiftly. Customs officials will be able to maintain searchable digitized records in lieu of the mountains of paperwork popular to this day.

Cargo Management Portal Modules

Admin: The admin will be able to make verified access IDs for each user. While the admin will not be able to see the details of each shipment they will be notified in the case of any disputes.

Government: The governments of different countries will have access to the system for customs purposes. They can access the details for shipments that access any of their port facilities. After successful shipment details of the consignment can be automatically uploaded to the government’s database.

Consignor: The consignor will create a new shipment and update all the details required. They will enter shipping details following which the system will setup tracking details. The consignor will also furnish the declarations and other documents required, which will be stored on the system servers.

Consignee: The consignee will place an order and put funds for shipping and tax purposes in escrow. During the shipping any payment will be done by the system and after delivery the shipping charge will be released to the shipper.
